HONG KONG, March 21 (Xinhua) -- The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region opened its official Facebook account on Tuesday.
The account's name is @MFAofficeHK.
Tong Xiaoling, acting commissioner of the office, said that China has the biggest number of netizens and the social media has entered everyone's life.
"Social media has been increasingly important in communication, " she added.
"Opening the official Facebook account can add wings to public diplomacy works and build up a new platform for communication between the office of the commissioner and the Hong Kong people.
"Through the Facebook account, the office of the commissioner will introduce national development, the diplomatic works, diplomatic works relating to Hong Kong, China's history and culture," Tong said.
"We welcome the netizens to interact with us."
