国内英语新闻:China, Uruguay vow to strengthen cooperation
BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China and Uruguay agreed to strengthen cooperation in Beijing on Friday.
The pledge was made between Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan and Uruguay's Vice President Lucia Topolansky, who is also president of the General Assembly and president of the Senate.
In 2016, the two countries established their strategic partnership during Uruguayan President Vazquez's visit to China.
This repositioning of bilateral ties has injected new impetus into the two countries' ever-widening cooperation, Wang said.
China sticks to socialism with Chinese characteristics with full confidence in this path, Wang said, adding that China also supports people of Uruguay and other Latin American countries to follow development paths suited to their national conditions.
Saying China champions building a community with a shared future for the humanity, Wang called on both sides to enhance cooperation at all levels, deepen mutual understanding and trust, so as to achieve win-win results and benefit the two peoples.
For her part, Topolansky said Uruguay is impressed by China's remarkable development and attaches great importance to developing bilateral ties.
She expressed her willingness to enhance Uruguay's cooperation with China, including the Belt and Road construction, ocean exploration, trade, agriculture, education, and culture.
