国内英语新闻:Traffic remains smooth during festival, gaokao
BEIJING, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The traffic remained safe and smooth on the second day of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, also the ending of gaokao, the annual college entrance exam, thanks of an all-out effort across the country.
As of 5 p.m., no road accident with more than five deaths was reported, and major highways as well as main routes did not see any severe traffic jams, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
The traffic police across the country offered help to the students struck in jam or went wrong places for the exam, said the ministry, adding that the police also launched traffic control and curbed honking near exam centers to create quiet environment for the exam.
