体坛英语新闻:DPR Korea breaks China's monoply at Asian weightlifting championships
TONGLING, Anhui Province, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Jong Chun Mi of DPR Korea broke China's dominance at the Asian weightlifting championships by winning the jerk gold in women's 58kg category.
However, two Chinese young lifters - Li Xueying and Lin Qingfeng snatched other five gold on offer on the second day of the continental competition.
Jong's gold was the first won by non-Chinese lifter so far in the event.
Asian Games champion Li, 21, won the snatch of women's 58kg category with comfort, beating second-placed Jong by a margin of 15kg.
Jong, who ranked the third at both last year's world championships and Asian Games, fought back by jerking 130kg in her final attempt, 2kg more than Li, who failed in her final two attempts at 131kg after lifting 128kg.
Li was not satisfied with her 235kg total as it was three kilograms less than her result at the Asian Games.
"I focused too much on success, therefore neglected technical details," said Li.
Lin, 22, snatched 152kg, jerked 176kg to sweep all the three gold medals in the men's 69kg category.
DPR Korea's Kim Kum Sok, who won the gold for the category at the Asian Games in the absence of Chinese lifters, didn't found his rhythm and failed all three jerk attempts. Iran's Rezaeian Morteza, the silver medalist at Asiad, suffered the same fate.
Chinese lifter Liao Hui, the world record holder in this category, did not take part in the competition due to injury.
