体坛英语新闻:Barca and Madrid both lose, but Barca can be champions next week
MADRID, May 1 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona and Real Madrid both lost their games on Matchday 34 in Spain, but despite a 2-1 defeat to Real Sociedad, Barcelona will be the happier of the two sides.
Pep Guardiola's side saw how second half goals from Diego Ifran and Xabi Prieto overturned a first half strike from Thiago Alcantara to give Real Sociedad all three points.
Barcelona rested key players ahead of next week's Champions League semifinal return leg against Real Madrid, but despite their defeat, the Catalans can still be crowned as league champions next weekend, if they take one point more than Real Madrid from their next match.
That is because Madrid slipped to a home defeat to Zaragoza. Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho rested Cristiano Ronaldo and other key players and saw how they were surprised by their visitors.
Zaragoza played on the break and were 2-0 up after 55 minutes thanks to an Angel Lafita goal, following a terrible missed clearance from Madrid keeper Iker Casillas, and a Gabi Fernandez penalty, which came after a Ricardo Carvalho foul on Lafita.
Sergio Ramos scored for Madrid before Lafita made it 3-1 on the break and although Karim Benzema scored a second for Madrid, his side couldn't make their late pressure count.
Madrid ended with 10 men after Carvalho was sent off for two yellow cards, while Zaragoza take a huge step towards avoiding relegation.
Meanwhile Saturday also saw Kun Aguero give Atletico Madrid a 1-0 win away to Deportivo la Coruna.
Sunday say Villarreal assure their grip on fourth place in the table and a place in the Champions League after a brave fightback to beat Getafe 2-1. Pedro Rios put Getafe ahead with a magnificent left foot shot after half an hour, but the home side turned things around in the second period.
Cani leveled the scores on the hour after a quickly taken free kick and Giuseppe Rossi's header 15 minutes from time gave Villarreal all three points, while dumping Getafe into the relegation zone.
Getafe owe their fall into the bottom three to Osasuna's 1-0 win over Valencia, which lift the side from Navarra out of the relegation zone. Alvaro Cejudo's goal gave Osasuna all three points, while leaving Valencia just three point ahead of Villarreal.
Almeria look assured of relegation following a 1-0 defeat at home to Sevilla. Renato gave Sevilla all three points after the home side were reduced to 10 men after Martin Jakobson was sent off for a tackle that saw Sevilla defender Martin Caceres taken to hospital with a broken rib.
Malaga left Hercules in deep trouble after a 3-1 triumph. Julio Cesar Baptista was again the hero after scoring twice, but Hercules are now in deep trouble five points from safety.
Racing Santander look safe after beating Mallorca 2-0- Markus Rosenberg and Kennery Bakircioglu scored in an incredibly simple win for the home side, while there was no surprise in Levante and Sporting Gijon drawing 0-0, a result which favored both sides.
Espanyol and Athletic Club Bilbao, who can return to fifth place with a win, end the round of games this Monday night.
