体坛英语新闻:Djokovic extends winning streak, wins Serbian Open
BELGRADE, May 1 (Xinhua) -- To the delight of his hometown fans, Novak Djokovic continued his undefeated streak to 27 matches, capturing the Serbian Open in a rain-soaked Belgrade on Sunday.
The current world number 2 Djokovic defeated the 29-year-old Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. This was 23-year-old Djokovic's fifth title this year and the victory extended his winning streak to 27 matches. The current record is 29 wins without a loss.
In the first set, neither player was able to break his opponent, although Lopez had five opportunities to take service away from Djokovic. A backhand pass in the tie-breaker gave Djokovic the set.
After a rain-delayed second set, Djokovic asserted control on the clay court with two breaks, taking the match. The victory represents a 65,550 Euro purse and 250 ATP points.
This was the third Serbian Open and the second time Djokovic has taken the title. For Djokovic the tournament is also family affair. The ATP Tour date for the Serbian Open was purchased by the Djokovic family from the organizers of the Dutch Open. Djokovic's uncle, Goran is the tournament director.
