体坛英语新闻:British ace Murray considers pullout of ATP Finals
LONDON, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- British top player Andy Murray suffered a bitter defeat at home as he was beaten by David Ferrer in straight sets in his first match and considered of pulling out of the ATP World Tour Finals on Monday.
Murray, the world No. 3, struggled to find his form during the meeting and lost to the world No. 5 Spaniard 6-4, 7-5 in Group A's opening match.
"I had a problem with my groin," revealed Murray, who asked for medical timeout after the first set. "I didn't move particularly great today, but I still had opportunities."
Murray broke first in both sets, but succumbed to a more consistent Ferrer, whom he defeated in the previous three meetings this year.
"He's just very, very solid. He gives you very few points," said Murray. "He returned well today, didn't make hardly any mistakes on the return, so he was always putting pressure on my service game. And that's the main difference."
Although the round robin in group stage means Murray still has at least two matches to play, the 24-year-old said that he will decide later wether or not to keep playing.
"I can decide until one minute before the match on Wednesday if I want to," Murray added. "So I'll see how I feel tonight and tomorrow and decide."
Word No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia is going to lock horns with Tomas Berdych from Czech Republic later in the evening.
