体坛英语新闻：Main Media Center of Kazan Universiade opens

KAZAN, RUSSIA, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The Main Media Center (MMC) of the 27th Summer Universiade opened in Kazan Arena Stadium on Wednesday, three days before the opening of the sporting gala for world university athletes in Kazan, capital city of Republic of Tatarstan.

The Main Media Centre is one of the most significant Universiade venues in Kazan. It is situated on two floors of the Western Stand in Kazan Arena Stadium and occupies over 6,200 square meters. During the Games, the centre will host daily press conferences with organizers, central figures and ambassadors of the Universiade.

The MMC opening was attended by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. He said that the Kazan Arena Stadium has fitted into the city space perfectly. "This is the project we are truly proud of, as our stadium is virtually the only one in Russia to meet all requirements for stadiums where world football championship matches can be held."

He said the MMC would work around the clock to provide sports fans with the latest, most relevant, and most interesting information about the Universiade in Kazan.

The 27th Summer Universiade will officially open on July 6 through to July 17, with an entry of more than 13,000 athletes, coaches and officials from 170 countries and regions. The Universiade features on 351 events of 27 sports.
