体坛英语新闻:Chinese girls all out of China Open after Wang's exit
BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- With a 5-3 advantage in the first set, Chinese player Wang Qiang plummeted to a 10-game losing skid, losing to former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki 7-5, 6-0 in China Open second round here on Tuesday.
Chinese girls lost the chance to move on, as Han Xinyun, Zhang Shuai and Zheng Saisai had already crashed out in the first round.
This was Wang's second main draw appearance in Beijing since 2012. She beat left-handed Varvara Lepchenko in first round for her third career win over top 100 players.
Wang and Wozniacki, ranked 11th, had met each other once in Kuala Lumpur in 2013, where Wang managed a 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-1 victory. This is also her only win over world top 20 player.
Both players shared breaks in the first seven games, and then Wang secured her serve game to build up a 5-3 lead in the first set.
"I'm making adjustments in my serves recently, actually I kept my serves only once when I led by 5-3, my serve games are the main problem," said Wang.
Things began to change since the eighth game as Wang committed more mistakes and Wozniacki took the advantage to produce a four-game winning streak, grabbing the first set 7-5.
Wozniacki continued her momentum in the second set, allowing not single game to the host player, cruising to a dominating 6-0 sweep to get through the second round in 79 minutes.
"The loss in the first set, especially after I had the advantage once, affected my confidence and morale for later games. She played very well, and gave me a lot of pressure all through the match," added Wang.
