国际英语新闻:Temple gunman died of self-inflicted wound: FBI
CHICAGO, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Wade Michael Page, the lone suspect in last weekend's shootings at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, died of a self-inflicted wound, the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI) said Wednesday.
At a televised news conference, FBI Special Agent in Charge Teresa Carlson said evidence showed that Page died of a self- inflicted gunshot wound to the head, which Page delivered to himself after being shot in the stomach by a responding police officer.
Authorities had previously said that Page had died from the shootout with police officers.
Carlson also said the FBI had yet to define Page's motive for the shootings that killed six and critically wounded three others, but agents are continuing to study Page's email and phone records and interview his family and relatives across the United States.
The shootings took place at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and took the lives of victims from ages 39 to 84.
