国际英语新闻:France calls on Egyptian interim gov't to facilitate power transition involving all parties
PARIS, July 17 (Xinhua) -- France called on Wednesay the newly-sworn-in interim government of Egypt to ensure fastest power transition to the upcoming elected authorities with all political forces in the country involved.
"We hope that the new government will meet many expectations of the Egyptian people and make every effort to ensure the fastest possible transition of power to democratically elected authorities. This involves all forces and political movements." said Philippe Lalliot, spokesman of French Foreign Ministry at a daily press briefing.
"As the new period begins, it is essential that all the fundamental freedoms enshrined in the constitutional declaration of July 8 are met," the spokesman stressed.
The French diplomat's remarks came after Egyptian interim government, headed by Prime Minister Hazem Beblawi, was sworn in on Tuesday, with no one from Islamic parties included in the interim cabinet.
The Muslim Brotherhood, from which ousted president Mohamed Morsi hails, refused to take part in the new cabinet, saying "We don't recognize its legitimacy or its authority."
Former president Morsi was overthrown by the military on July 3. Egypt plunged into chaos after Morsi's oust as his supporters insisted on his reinstatement and clashed in the street protests with those who opposed it.
