国际英语新闻:22 killed, 65 wounded in bombing attacks in Iraq's capital
BAGHDAD, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- At least 22 people were killed and 65 others wounded in a wave of violent attacks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Saturday, police said.
The deadliest blast occurred in the Mansour district of western Baghdad, leaving six civilians killed and 12 others injured, a police source told Xinhua.
Four civilians were killed and 13 others wounded when a car bomb went off in the Topchi area of northern Baghdad, while three were killed and 12 others were wounded during a car bombing in the Utaifiyya area, also in northern Baghdad, the source said.
Two mortars struck the Adeal neighborhood of western Baghdad, leaving three killed and nine others injured.
Also in western Baghdad, two civilians were killed and 10 wounded when a car bomb exploded in the Jamah district, while one civilian was killed and five others wounded by a roadside bomb in the Amiriya district.
Meanwhile, another car bomb attacked the Nahda area of eastern Baghdad, leaving three people killed and four wounded.
Iraq is witnessing its worst violence in recent years. According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, a total of 8,868 Iraqis, including 7,818 civilians and civilian police personnel, were killed in 2013, marking highest annual death toll in years.
