国际英语新闻:Modi to take oath as next Indian PM on May 26
NEW DELHI, May 20 (Xinhua) -- India's hardline Hindu politician Narendra Modi will take oath as the country's next prime minister on May 26, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Rajnath Singh announced Tuesday.
"Modi will be sworn in as India's 15th prime minister on May 26, " Singh told the media after a meeting with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, along with other leaders from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
The president will administer the oath of office to Modi.
Modi was earlier named as the BJP's parliamentary party leader, making him the prime minister designate.
The BJP, led by Modi, swept to power in the recently concluded general elections, bagging on its own 282 out of 543 seats in the Lower House of Parliament (Lok Sabha), decimating the ruling Congress party.
