国际英语新闻:Exit poll indicates second round in Brazilian presidential elections
RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- An Ibope exit poll released on Sunday evening indicates a second round in the Brazilian presidential election.
According to the poll, President Rousseff, who is running for re-election, has 44 percent of votes, while Aecio Neves has 30 percent of votes and Marina Silva has 22 percent. Other candidates have, together, four percent of votes.
If those figures are confirmed, the election will proceed to a second round; in order to win in the first round, Rousseff would need 50 percent of votes plus one.
The exit poll's result showed a discrepancy in relation to the most recent election polls, released on Saturday evening, which showed Neves and Silva technically tied.
A partial result released on Sunday evening shows President Rousseff with 40 percent of votes, Neves with 35 percent and Silva with almost 21 percent. More than half of the votes have already been counted, indicating that the country will have indeed a second round on Oct. 26.
