国际英语新闻:Turkish Pres. pledges support to Afghanistan
KABUL, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid a one-day visit to Afghanistan on Saturday and after meeting his counterpart Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai assured his country' s long-term support.
"Turkey would continue to support Afghanistan in all fields including investment in infrastructure, mines extraction, food and agriculture and the friendly relations between the two countries would further get closer in the years ahead," Erdogan said at a joint press conference with his Afghan counterpart at the Presidential Palace here.
In his remarks, the visiting Turkish president said, "Turkey attaches great importance to its relations with Afghanistan and would continue to remain alongside Afghans,".
Speaking at the press conference, Afghan President Ahmadzai said both the presidents in their meeting reached agreement that Afghanistan and Turkey would enhance cooperation at all levels, saying cabinet with cabinet and administration with administration would have joint cooperation and to learn from each other's experiences.
Erdogan is the second foreign leader visiting Afghanistan since Ahmadzai assumed office.
