国内英语新闻:U.S. locks down embassy in Ottawa following shooting incidents
WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The United States on Wednesday locked down its embassy in Ottawa following a series of shooting incidents in the Canadian capital.
"Due to shooting at Parliament Hill in Ottawa earlier, we are currently on lockdown," the embassy said in its Twitter account, adding "We will update once further information is available."
The Canadian embassy in Washington D.C. has also been locked down as a precaution, a spokesman said.
The Canadian parliament and its surrounding area have been under lockdown after multiply gunshots were fired inside the legislative building on Wednesday morning. Shootings were also reported at the National War Memorial and near the Rideau Center shopping mall.
A Canadian soldier was shot Wednesday at the memorial site and has died later of his wound, a Canadian cabinet minister said on Twitter.
A suspected gunman was killed inside the parliament building and at least two people injured in Ottawa in the three separate shootings.
Police has confirmed the death of the gunman and believed there are maybe more gunmen inside the parliament building. No organization or individual has claimed responsibility for the shootings.
