国际英语新闻:Kerry consults with four gulf states on Iranian nuclear talks

VIENNA, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry discussed the ongoing Iranian nuclear talks with four foreign ministers from gulf states in a conference call on Saturday.

A U.S. spokesperson said Kerry joined a conference call with foreign ministers from the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain about the ongoing negotiations.

As the Nov. 24 deadline looms, Iran and the West try to find a "magic solution" for the disputed Iranian nuclear program in the remaining days.

Kerry announced to leave for Paris to consult with his EU counterparts but the trip was delayed by the intensive negotiations with Iranian foreign minster.

Iran currently has installed 19,000 centrifuges, of which 10,190 are operating. Most of the centrifuges Iran owns are IR-1, an old model centrifuge. Iran has also installed around 1,000 IR-2M centrifuges, which are assessed to be three to five times more efficient than IR-1 centrifuges.

Western states want Iran to significantly lower its number of centrifuges while Iran wants to keep most of its nuclear enrichment capacity.

Negotiators aim to reach a comprehensive deal by deadline No.24 that would ensure Tehran's atomic plan is exclusively peaceful, while, in return, Western states would phase out relevant sanctions which have severely hurt the gulf nation's oil-dependent economy.

Significant gaps remain in the talks while experts said the talks could be more complicated if the talks are to further extended.
