国际英语新闻:Rahul Gandhi accuses Indian PM of practicing revenge politics
NEW DELHI, May 7 (Xinhua) -- India's Nehru-Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi of practicing "politics of revenge" and not "politics of change" that he promised.
"Politicians offer promises to people and the one made by the prime minister is the biggest. What he is doing is politics of revenge. The government has scrapped the project which would have benefited farmers in 10 districts," Gandhi said in the Indian Parliament.
Gandhi, who is also the country's main opposition Congress party's second-in-command, made the remarks in the wake of the Indian government scrapping a mega food park project in his parliamentary constituency of Amethi in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
"The prime minister mentioned that he is not going to do politics of revenge but silently this food park project was killed or attempt was made to shut it down. I feel that this is bad for the farmers and it is bad for the credibility of the prime minister," he told the media.
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh has, however, dismissed the allegations. "There is no question of doing any politics of revenge with anybody. I have said what I had to say," he said.
