国际英语新闻:Ruling AKP member elected as Turkish parliament speaker
ANKARA, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- A member of Turkey's Ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) was elected on Sunday as Turkish parliament speaker with 316 votes out of 522 in the third round of the election.
In remarks following his election, Ismail Kahraman said the new parliament would act within the constitution and he would be impartial during his term.
Ayse Gulsun Bilgehan of the Republican People's Party (CHP) got 125 votes and Dengir Mir Mehmet Firat of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) received 41.
The AKP holds 317 seats in the parliament, while the CHP has 134 seats and the HDP 59.
The Nov. 1 general elections gave the AKP a comfortable majority to rule without coalition.
On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan assigned acting Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to form a new government, which is due to be announced this week.
Davutoglu is expected to the name new cabinet which is likely to be packed with Erdogan loyalists.
