国际英语新闻:Iran tested missile last month: report
WASHINGTON, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Iran tested a new medium-range ballistic missile last month, U.S. media reported on Monday, citing a senior U.S. official.
Western intelligence said the test was held on Nov. 21 near Chabahar, a port city in Iran's Balochistan province near the border with Pakistan, Fox News reported on its website.
It cited the U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, as saying that the new test was in breach of two United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In October, Iran's defense ministry said it has successfully test-fired the country's first long-range missile that can be guided and controlled until hitting the target.
The White House took notice of the ballistic missile test that month, saying "strong indications" showed that Iran's test of a new precision-guided ballistic missile violated a UN Security Council resolution.
"We've got strong indications that those missile tests did violate UN Security Council resolutions that pertain to Iran's ballistic missile activities," said White House press secretary Josh Earnest said.
He pledged the U.S. will work with its world partners "to engage a strategy to try to disrupt continued progress of their ballistic missile program."
