WASHINGTON, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Capitol Hill and the White House were both on lockdown Monday afternoon after a shooting incident at the Visitors Center of the Capitol complex left a police injured.
The alleged shooter was shot and had been taken into custody, said the police.
According to authorities, the shooting incident occurred in the underground visitors center adjacent to the Capitol, where visitors go through security before they tour the Capitol complex.
The lockdown on the White House was soon lifted, while the Capitol complex was still under lockdown.
