国际英语新闻:Israel rejects abiding by bilateral deals: Palestinian official
RAMALLAH, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Israel has rejected a Palestinian request to abide by the signed bilateral peace agreements and treaties, a senior Palestinian official unveiled on Thursday.
Saeb Erekat, Secretary General of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), told reporters in Ramallah that six sessions of Israeli-Palestinian dialogue had been held over the past two months.
"The official Israeli response during these sessions included a rejection to the Palestinian request that it is necessary for the two sides to be committed to signed agreements," said Erekat.
In February, a high-ranking Palestinian security delegation handed the Israeli side an official letter asking to stop the Israeli army daily raids and incursions into the West Bank cities and towns and be committed to the signed agreements.
In the letter, the Palestinians warned Israel that if it won't be committed to the signed agreements, the Palestinians would be obliged to limit and reconsider the ties with Israel, including a freeze of security coordination.
"The Palestinian side insists to continue working on reconsidering the ties with Israel after it officially announced that it is not committed to the bilateral agreements signed with the Palestinians," said Erekat.
Erekat expressed hope that the international community would cooperate with France in order to prepare for holding an international peace conference.
"Getting rid of the Islamic State and ending terrorism can only be done by the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital," said Erekat.
