国际英语新闻:Ukraine to seek FTA with Britain after Brexit: PM
KIEV, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said on Wednesday his country will pursue a free trade agreement (FTA) with Britain after Brexit.
"Taking into account the UK's decision to leave the European Union (EU), the so-called Brexit, we need to consider a new basis for our economic cooperation," Groysman said on Facebook after his meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May in London.
The consultations on the establishment of the FTA between Ukraine and Britain may start as soon as the Brexit formally occurs, Groysman said.
He noted that the possible FTA could help the two parties double their annual trade volume to about 3.5 billion U.S. dollars.
In January 2016, Ukraine launched the free trade area with the EU, which removed custom tariffs over 90 percent of goods traded between the two sides.
Groysman arrived at London earlier Wednesday for a three-day visit.
