The Daffodils

I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o‘er vales and hills，

When all at once I saw a crowd，

A host of golden daffodils；

Beside the lake， beneath the trees，

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way，

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay：

Ten thousand saw I at a glance，

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced； but they

Outdid the sparkling waves in glee：

A poet could not but be gay，

In such a jocund company：

I gazed - and gazed - but little thought

What wealth the show to me had brought：

For oft， when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood，

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude；

Ans then my heart with pleasure fills，

And dances with the daffodils.

这美景给了我怎样的珍宝。

从此，每当我倚榻而卧，

或情怀抑郁，或心境茫然，

水仙呵，便在我心目中闪烁——

那是我孤寂时分的乐园：

我的心灵便换请洋溢，

和水仙一道舞踊不息。

华兹华斯（William Wordsworth，1770-1850），十九世纪初英格兰北部湖区三大“湖畔派诗人”（浪漫主义）之一。此诗向我们描绘了一幅美好的自然景象，同时抒发作者对自然美景的喜欢。黄水仙据说是威尔士国花（1282年，威尔士归顺英格兰，被封公国），在英国广泛栽种，春季开花，花期不长。有许多关于黄水仙的诗歌，这首诗无疑是脱颖而出的。
