潮

萨拉·蒂斯代尔

我的心中爱潮初涨，
繁星般的海鸥展翅飞翔；
热烈的阳光，飞溅的波浪，
高高洒落在崖岸上。
可是，昏暗中潮头回落，
海鸥也低低鼓动翅膀；
难以遏制的思念有如狂涛，
就此永远破碎消亡。

LOVE in my heart was a fresh tide flowing
Where the starlike sea gulls soar;
The sun was keen and the foam was blowing
High on the rocky shore.
But now in the dusk the tide is turning,
Lower the sea gulls soar,
And the waves that rose in resistless yearning
Are broken forevermore.

注：萨拉·蒂斯代尔（1884－1933）是美国最有迷人魅力的抒情诗人之一。

生于密苏里洲圣路易斯成。没有受过正规教育，但她勤奋好学，自学成才。一度侨居欧洲和中东，1916年定居纽约。她的诗作朴实无华，表达自然流畅，情感娇嫩脆弱，如涓涓流水，纤细而平静，有时在文静之中也蕴藏着几丝感伤。

诗人在诗中委婉的劝说自己昔日的恋人忘掉她，而诗人自己却永远无法忘记那段美好的回忆
