There has been jubilation in the streets of Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, after the head of transitional military council Awad Ibn Auf said he was quitting after just 24 hours. Awad replaced the ousted veteran President Omar al-Bashir and will be succeeded by another military man set to be less close to Mr. Bashir, Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan.

Riot police in the Algerian capital have fired tear gas to huge members of protesters who responded by hurling back the tear gas canisters. Hundreds of thousands have been demonstrating to demand the departure of the ruling elite, including the new interim President Abdelkader Bensalah.

Judges at the international criminal court have rejected a request by the prosecutor to hold an investigation into alleged war crimes in Afghanistan. The judges said there was little chance of prosecutions relating to the crimes possibly committed by the U.S military, the Afghan army and the Taliban.

State media outlets in North Korea say the country's leader Kim Jong-un will only meet President Trump again if the United States comes with the right attitude. Mr. Kim said it was a danger over return to pass bilateral tensions.

The United States has handed to Argentina thousands of documents relating to the murder and disappearance of government opponents during military rule in the 70s and 80s. They include memorandum added from U.S agencies on how much they knew about human rights abuses.

President Trump says he would like to release illegal immigrants into democrat-controlled urban strongholds so as to retaliate for the party's opposition to his immigration policies. Earlier on Thursday, the White House said the idea of such release has been rejected.

And it has been confirmed that a Dutch fertility doctor, Jan Karbaat, fathered of 49 children before he died two years. He has been accused of using his own sperm to inseminate patients without their consent.
