Amnesty international has confirmed reports that more than 100 people have diedin Iran during five days of protests sparked by fuel price rise. Some reports put the figure far higher. Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed foreign enemies fort he unrest.

The U.S congress is holding furthering televised hearings in the impeachment inquiries into Donald Trump. One official lieutenant colonel Alexander Vindman said president Trump had acted improperly by making domestic political demands with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. Mr. Trump has dismissed the hearings as a hoax.

Two prisonguards in New York, who were on duty on the night that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein killed himself have been charged of falsifying records. They were accused of failing to complete mandated checks in prisoners and lying on official forms.

The leaders of Britain's two main political parties have repeatedly clashed over Brexit in the first televised debate of the campaign for the next month general election.  The conservative prime minister Boris Johnson promised to get a deal through parliament within weeks. The opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn said Mr. Johnson couldnot be trusted.

Police in Bolivia have shot a protestor to dead as they tried to prevent trucks carrying cooking gas for heading towards the country's biggest city La Paz. Supporters of the exiled former president Evo Morales are blocking roads as part of demonstrations against the interim leader.

Twenty five migrants have been found in a refrigerated container on a board ferry heading from the Netherlands to Britain. The ship has returned to port to give medical treatment to the stowaways.

Mauricio Pochettino has been sacked as the head coach of the  English premier league football club Tottenham Hotspur after more than five years in charge. Spurs are currently 14th in the table.
