塔利班用美军战俘交换5名关塔那摩囚犯

Well, if you are asking what's going on here now? Frankly compared to the boisterous scene yesterday when the Taliban launched themselves on the world stage, it's all gone very flat. You can knock, but there is no body in here in the Taliban office which is supposed to be the place that they could use to engage with the outside world. So that for when will they engage, when will those talks take place? And my understanding for the American sources is that special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan James Dobbins hasn't even left Washington yet. Therefore don't expect anything in the next 24 or so hours. Also on Saturday here in Doha, there is another important diplomatic event concerned with Syria, so officials won't want that overshadowed. I think probably there won't be any talking now for at least few days, maybe Sunday. And you will really get the sense as well the Taliban has been told to shut up after yesterday rather loudly proclaiming themselves, raising a flag which upset the Afghan authorities. The problem here is that the Afghan authorities in Kabul feel sidelined and until they've been pacified, until their wings has been smoothed over; I don't think realistically the Americans can actually get together with the Taliban. Otherwise, the American's wrist looks frankly a little bit desperate.

-“What can you tell us about this prison exchange that the Taliban has been talking about, Lisa?”

-“Yeah, that's nothing new actually. The idea has been mooted for some time that what the Taliban wanted was the return of five Taliban prisoners currently being held in Guantanamo Bay. And in exchange, the Americans said they wanted to release the American soldier who was captured in Afghanistan back in 2009.I think that there would be a detail for much further down the line. As for when the talk to start and even the Afghan officials that we've been talking to in Kabul have said they want those talk to take place, even they acknowledge that it is very, very slow small steps and an initial discussion, it will be simply an exchange of agendas, an exchange of ideas and then try to set up a time line for when they will meet again. And some time before they reach that kind of detail, you will actually see proper prison exchanges.”
