Nuremberg started with a plus of ball possession but clinical Schalke staged a fast counter to open the scoring at the 13th minute through top striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar. Nuremberg took over after the deficit but they remained harmless thus Schalke veteran Spaniard striker Raul Gonzales Blanco doubled the lead for his side at the 38th minute.

In an one-sided affair Wolfsburg doubled the lead within the 36th minute through midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic who scored a brace against unimaginative rival Hannover. Just before end of the first half Hannover was able to come one back as Hannover defender Christian Schulz nodded home a corner. The "Wolves" remained unfazed and extended the two-point gap at the 56th minute as unmarked defender Christian Maicon Hening headed home a cross to shock the guests. Hannover striker Didier Ya Konan ensured a negative highlight when he was sent of with a straight red card after unsportsmanlike behavior.

"Wolves" defender Alexander Madlung wrapped the 4-1 win when he hammered home a dead ball goal from 18 meters into top right. It is the fifth victory at the 13th match for Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg climbs from 13th to 12th position with 16 points whilst rival Hannover drops from sixth to seventh position with 19 points.

Freiburg and Berlin share points after a draw. Freiburg was able to equalize at the dying second of the extra time to shock Berlin that was incapable to defend a 2-0 lead.

Berlin remains on 10th position with 17 points while Freiburg jumps from 17th to 16th position with 11 points.

The scheduled match for today between Cologne and Mainz was cancelled due to a suicidal attempt by referee Babak Rafati who was found seriously injured in his hotel room by his linesmen just before the match.

"The referee didn't turn up. We were unable to find a replacement at short notice," Cologne press spokesman Tobias Schmidt said.

On Sunday Stuttgart encounters Augsburg and struggling Hamburg hosts Hoffenheim.
