When Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen started breaking world records at London's Olympic pool, rumours quickly followed. There was even speculation over the use of performance enhancing drugs.

At a briefing Monday in London, IOC spokesman, Mark Adams, defended Ye Shiwen's record-breaking gold medal performance, saying Ye had passed the drug tests and deserved recognition for her talent.

4 minutes 28 seconds and 43... another astounding world record by Chinese 16 years old swimmer Ye Shiwen.

In the Women's 400m individual Medley, Ye Shiwen swam the last 50 meters even faster than American Ryan Lochte did in the equivalent men's race.

In an IOC briefing on Monday, press spokesman Mark Adams responded to doping speculations. He defended Ye and said instead of raising suspicions, people should applaud Ye's new record and the spirit of the Olympic Games.

The chairman of the IOC's medical commission, Arne Ljungqvist, has said doping suspicions are groundless.

On Tuesday, both the IOC and the British Olympic Association declared that Ye Shiwen had passed the drug testing program after breaking the world record.

Mr. Arne Ljungqvist said the London Olympics has the toughest drug testing system and that groundless accusations marred the spirit of the games.
