热浪袭击中国大部分地区

Over in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, heat wave conditions have made life miserable for residents. The city has been experiencing temperatures higher than 40 degrees Celsius for almost two weeks.

Meteorologists say subtropical high pressure zones in Iran are causing the heat wave that has blanketed the city since July the 14th. Meteorological authorities in east China's Jiangsu Province issued a yellow alert for high temperatures on Monday afternoon, warning that a heat wave will scorch several of the province's cities until Thursday.

In Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, construction companies have implemented summer working hours and introduced measures to help workers prevent from the heat. Meteorological authorities say the hot weather will continue at least until the beginning of August.
