Forecasters continue to issue a blue alert for high temperatures across the country. Southwest China’s Sichuan province and Chongqing municipality, Northwest China’s Shaanxi province, Mid China’s Hunan province, South China’s Jiangxi, Fujian and Zhejiang provinces are expected to sizzle under 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures in Southwest China’s Guizhou and Yunnan province, and South China’s Jiangsu province and Shanghai will surpass 35 degrees Celsius. Local governments are requiring proper protections for people working outdoors.

Residents are advised not to carry out outdoor activities after midday. Experts say in severe weather conditions like this, people should wear loose clothing and keep a light diet. They should also avoid dehydration and direct exposure to sunlight.
